Tamsin’s enthusiasm and love of art has been with her from an early age. Over the years she has had the opportunity to pursue, develop and refine her skill as an artist, in particular creating seascapes with the use of resin. Her original paintings are both beautiful and captivating. The high gloss finish of the resin gives the paintings a real sense of depth and light. Due to the very fluid nature of the resin, each piece is unique and cannot be replicated.
Tamsin lives in the beautiful county of Devon. She feels so grateful to live close to the sea and countryside. Her love of walking the stunning coastline near her home continues to inspire her to create her art.
“For my coastal artwork, I love using real sand and pebbles along with shells and driftwood to give my paintings a natural, textured look for the shoreline.
This contrasts beautifully with the high gloss resin sea.
By mixing the resin with mica powders and acrylic inks, the sea shimmers and sparkles as it catches the light. I use a blow torch and heat gun to help create the beautiful lacing details of the waves.
By adding multiple layers of resin, I’m able to create the effect of waves rolling in one after the other until they reach the shoreline. It has taken years to develop my own style of using resin with many attempts and experiments to work out how to get the effects I want.
I find it such a pleasure to create art that someone is happy to hang in their home and hope my art evokes a sense of peace and calm.”
